This is a picture of my rental car, a 2013 Nissan Altima. I’m driving a rental car this week because my car, a 2000 Ford Taurus, is in the garage getting fixed. I have found in the past that when I have driven other cars, I feel a bit uncomfortable and disoriented. For one thing, the switches and levers are not always in the same place. For instance, in my car, the lever to put the car in park, drive, reverse, etc. is on my steering column, but in this car it is located between the front seats. Another change from my car to this rental car is that there is no ignition key, as you just push a button to start/stop the car. I picked up this car Monday night after work and I’m pleased to find that my hand is not gravitating towards the steering column to look for the lever and that I don’t find myself trying to start the car in the same spot I would on my car. I think this shows that I’m growing as a driver and in my ability to handle change. Who knows, when it is time to say goodbye to my car, my next car might be a Nissan Altima?
